A map of words for the Lost & Searching
we're in this together (& there's no place I'd rather be... than the body)
In my year-long program Liberation Practice Field, we’ve started our year by locating ourselves in space and time. Locating ourselves is a matter of recovering our longings.
A lot of us are doing organizing work in some way, shape or form. When we are shaped by anti-work, by no, by constantly responding to the State’s latest violence, our whole bodies become no. I’ve shared here how I often feel like a lot of spaces have become pro-anti, and Berlin too.
As much as you resist the violence of the state, please, please—find your Eros. Find your grief. Find what moves your soma back into tenderness and allows your tissues to soften.
The reason I keep saying this is: the body learns on yes.* (*Staci Haines taught me that)
No is just a wall, a stopping point, a shutting down.
But yes—yes is a doorway. A direction. A way forward.
The body doesn’t move toward survival through rejection alone. It moves through longing, through desire, through the pull of what is possible.
Yes is what makes healing, connection, and liberation imaginable.
A map of us lives in our longings. Finding your yes is both a way home to yourself and an invitation to be found.
Let yourself long.
Long so deeply that it touches every person in the room, opening space for their longing too.
Longing is what has already happened to us—we are simply catching up to it in time.
It is loving something before we have seen it with our eyes.
If trauma is time travel towards what has happened without our consent, longing is time travel, too. Only this time, we get to write the story differently, on your own terms.
The past and future pulled back into the body, into now, the abundance of the breath as you read my words.
So, enough with the yapping, here are the words that have supported me those last two years:
~Life is long.
~Life is wide.
~Life has a hole in it (& Magic loves a void!!!)
~Time bends, you too, but it doesn’t break and you won’t either.
~ All Life grows in the dark.
~Your creative genius is wrapped in your shame, go look for it (12th house people what’s up!!?)
~Your body knows before your mind does. Pause. Listen.
~You are not off track; the path is shifting
~The ocean doesn’t apologize for the tide (it’s got work to do)
~You are the prayer and the answer
~It’s you. You are the purpose.
~We live inside circles not lines (the future is ancient!)
~Your ancestors outnumber your fears
~Why be a star when you could be a constellation?
~Rest is movement (toward generative repair, and Life is repair embodied)
~Abundance is to be found in your breath
~ Some answers arrive in silence.
~Love is older than fear.
~STOP BEING ASHAMED OF YOUR OWN DAMN POWER. it’s a waste for the Universe.
~What you are seeking is already seeking you. That means: let yourselves be seen. Let yourselves be found.
Sending care to all of you, thank you for witnessing me on this journey <3

This whole reflection really landed in my heart, but these words in particular -
No is just a wall, a stopping point, a shutting down.
But yes—yes is a doorway. A direction. A way forward.
So good! As a sobriety and recovery coach, this is critical to changing the narrative of shame around addiction. It shifts the story from deprivation to liberation. From isolation to collective care. I'll be sitting with these words for the lost and searching for quite a bit. So much to unpack here. Thank you for this!
