If you read only one email of my emails, it should be this one.
It's a chance to revisit the conversations I brought to you in August!
1. In case you missed it
A curated recap of August’s writing—not every post, just pieces of what I believe mattered most.
This month, I shared a lot of writing with you. August was a big month for me, because this newsletter reached more than 1000 paid subscribers. I am very proud and very happy that so many of you care so deeply not only about abolition, but about practicing it in your relationships now.
A few years ago, I was looked at cray-cray for bringing abolition inside “personal” conflict.
You know what I find worrying, working as a Transformative Justice practitioner and supporting organizing spaces through conflict?
I believe we have built movements that can survive oppression, but cannot survive conflict. And I believe it is because oppression demands tightening, hardening, while conflict is intimacy. True intimacy begins after rupture. And so this has been a through line in my work (if not the only line):
Abolition requires intimacy.
How are you feeling about intimacy, like really?
Does your body recoil just reading this?
You’re not alone!
This is why, in a few days, on sept. 10th, we’ll start Becoming Conflict Secure, or The Conflict Breakthrough Course. This is my first 28-day course on Substack with lives every week to answer all your questions. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to become a paid subscriber, this is it! This course is usually priced at 57 euros, and is completely free for paid subscribers.
Ok, so this month: 10 pieces written ! I won’t give you a summary about each and every one of them, but only what I truly believe is journaling-worthy.
