Hey y’all,
I’ve been thinking a lot about how i can best show up to this space without dancing tango with burn out (which has been the case for the last year).
Making some posts only available to folks who can afford to pay for subscription does not sit well with me. Coming from a poor background, I find this feature to be just another way to recreate classism. I do want my work to reach people who need it, and that includes (and centers) folks who can not afford a subscription. When we ask folks to pay for anything without taking into account the deeply unfair systems that have created wealth & ownership as well as poverty & destitution/theft, we’re just deepening systems of oppression. When folks who have historically benefited from systems of domination like white supremacy pay so that marginalised folks access this service for free, they actually create a world closer to the actual justice we all need.
Being a light-skinned Black trans non binary femme presenting person coming from poverty myselves, I know that showing up to my needs is also an act of self sovereignty and defiance to systems who want to keep me overworked and underpaid.
So: I decided to post here an anti-oppression sliding scale. I would love for you to consider your social position when accessing my work, and find ways to support me if you can. That would allow me to take care of my needs and render this content more accessible to folks who deserve it.
If your bottle is full: consider becoming a founding member ! Thank you !
If your bottle is half way full: consider becoming a paid subscriber ! Thank you !
If your bottle is not full: please access this work for free ! Thank you for being here <3
Thank you so much for your presence and care,
Stay safe & rebel !

So if "your bottle is empty", and you cannot afford to pay does that mean you still can access the paid content somehow? Or how does the sliding scale address the issue of gatekeeping based on income? Curious about your process as I continue to build my own anticapitalist praxis
