LBE is a series of essays exploring heartbreak, grief, tending to old wounds, reclaiming longing and fearing getting stuck there. I believe it is also my first memoir being written. I have no idea where I am going ! But I promise to keep you posted about what it means to write a memoir.
Here you can read last installments:
Introduction Part 1: new place, old wounds
Introduction Part 2: Part 2: kissing as art practice
Chapter 3: The problem isn’t polyamory, it is that I am Black in it.
I’ve always loved watching bodies lose control.
Not collapse—betray.
The chin that starts to shake before someone can stop it. Palms growing damp. Laughter breaking loose, loosening everything, bellies rising and falling, heads thrown back. The moment the body gives itself away before language can intervene.
A body can’t lie.
I learned that long before I learned to trust words.
Conflict feels the same to me. Because conflict does to relationships what loss of control does to bodies—it reveals what was already there. It pulls the unsaid to the surface of the skin. The things we swallow. The things we pretend are fine. The needs we pretend not to have.
