Have you ever stared at an unopened bill, a strange paralysis taking hold? Or felt a hot wave of shame flood your body when thinking about your income? You’ve been told that financial freedom is about budgets, spreadsheets, and discipline…But what if the deepest money wound has nothing to do with numbers at all?
Money is where capitalism meets the nervous system. It’s the place where systemic scarcity and personal history collide, leaving a legacy of shame, avoidance, and a quiet, persistent feeling of not-enoughness. We learn to see our financial struggles as personal failures, a reflection of our worth, when in reality, they are often trauma responses—survival strategies our bodies learned long ago.
I actually love talking about the somatics of scarcity, or how money is a safety wound, because money is traumatic. However, as you might know, I am very much about (somatic) solutions. I wanted to offer this before the year ends.
I want to be clear: this is not another financial planning seminar. This is not a ‘how to make 50k in a night’ kind of offering. This is a space to come home to your body, to understand your patterns not as flaws but as stories, and to begin the slow, sacred work of building financial agency from the inside out.
This is a workshop about our dignity.
For many of us, our relationship to money did not come from ‘energy’.
It came from:
childhood survival strategies
legacies of racial capitalism
family systems built on fear, control, or silence
the belief that we must work harder, be better, or earn our ‘worth’
This workshop is an invitation to unlearn those inherited stories and to gently build new ones —stories rooted in dignity, spaciousness, and collective care.
This is not a financial planning guide. This is a somatic reclamation.
A space to explore:
how your body reacts to spending, saving, giving, or receiving
where scarcity lives in your tissues
where shame appears and how it moves
what safety feels like when it comes to resources
what it means to feel “enough” in your bones
When we understand our money patterns somatically, we restore something deeper than budgeting skills —we restore agency. And with agency comes possibility: generosity, boundaries, creativity, and relational integrity.
The Somatics of Scarcity Workshop is for you if:
You feel a sense of dread, panic, or numbness when dealing with money.
You know you undercharge for your labor but feel terrified to ask for more.
You find yourself avoiding your finances—letting emails pile up or refusing to check your bank balance.
You’ve tried traditional budgeting methods, but they only left you feeling more ashamed.
You are a practitioner, artist, or care worker who feels a deep disconnect between the value you provide and the money you receive.
You are ready to explore your relationship with money through a somatic, abolitionist, and trauma-informed lens.
The truth is, avoidance Is not irresponsibility—it’s a body trying not to feel the individual shame that racial capitalism has created.
For years, you may have judged yourself for procrastinating, for impulsive spending, or for freezing in the face of financial decisions. We are taught to see these as character flaws. But they are nervous system strategies.
Fight: Overworking, hustling, hoarding. A body braced for collapse.
Flight: Impulsive spending, avoiding spending even when we have the money. A body trying to outrun scarcity.
Freeze: Ignoring bills, procrastination. A body gone numb to survive the threat.
Fawn: Undercharging, over-giving. A body bartering for its right to exist.
When you learn to see these patterns as somatic intel instead of personal failings, everything changes. You stop fighting your body and start listening to it. You move from a cycle of shame and avoidance to one of presence, choice, and possibility.
What we will do during those 3 hours !
This workshop is a carefully curated somatic arc designed to gently guide you from awareness to agency.
Part 1: Opening — Money as a Nervous System Story
We begin by grounding in a shared truth: “Money is where capitalism meets the nervous system.” We’ll explore how scarcity shapes the body and why shame is often the first thing that appears when we make a financial decision. You’ll be guided through a somatic check-in to create a foundation of safety in your body, even if money feels unsafe.
Part 2: The Body Map of Money Scarcity
You will learn to identify the four primary trauma responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) as they manifest in your financial life. Through a guided mapping exercise, you’ll discover where money shame lives in your body and which patterns are your default. This is often the moment where decades of self-blame begin to dissolve.
Part 3: Money Avoidance — The Master Pattern
Here, we normalize avoidance as a protective strategy. We’ll uncover the loop of Avoidance → Shame → More Avoidance and introduce a new pathway: Pause → Sensation → Choice. You will learn a simple, powerful 10-second tool to use anytime financial panic strikes, allowing you to stay present without collapsing.
Part 4: Micro-Actions That Build Agency (no money required!!!!)
Transformation doesn’t happen through grand gestures; it happens in small, consistent acts of presence. You will leave with five tangible micro-actions that build capacity and dignity without requiring a single extra dollar—from looking at a bill without solving it to a simple ritual for practicing receiving.
Part 5: Rewriting Money Shame (A Reflective Exercise)
We connect our personal struggles to the collective. You will be guided through reflective questions, exploring how scarcity entered your lineage and what part of your money story was never yours to carry. Shame dissolves when it is witnessed with compassion!!!
Part 6: Closing Practice.
We close with a guided somatic ritual to integrate the work, so you don’t feel like you are the only one doing this work.
I want to be clear…
I am not teaching budgets; I am teaching capacity.
I am not offering investment tips (lol!) ; I am offering tools for nervous system sovereignty.
This work is rooted in an abolitionist understanding that your financial struggles are not isolated personal failings. They are symptoms of a system that profits from your shame and disconnection. By turning toward your body, you reclaim a power that no economic downturn can touch.
You will leave this workshop not with a rigid financial plan, but (what I feel is much better!), a compassionate language for your experience, a set of tangible tools to use when you feel overwhelmed, and a deeper sense of your inherent worth, so you can build capacity to what is in front of you, instead of panicking, avoiding or freezing.
You deserve to exist even when you’re scared. You deserve to build safety at your own pace. I hope I see you there !!
