Dear ones,
Welcome to Day 20.
Today we are looking into pain as vessel of belonging.
Many of us come from lineages of relatively heavy trauma.I say relatively because yes everything is relative. And also, war, genocides, displacement is heavy for anyone human.
What I’ve noticed over time is that pain can become a vessel of belonging for us.
And I’m not talking about trauma bonding with your ex. I’m talking about that heavy guilt that shows up when we let go of the pain our ancestors carried—pain that was passed down to us, pain they often were carrying for our sake.
We feel like to live freely, without that weight, is somehow a betrayal—as if they hadn’t endured all of that so that we could breathe.
And of course, there are some folks in our lineage who did want us to suffer. Their suffering needed a place to exist, to be seen, and our bodies became that vessel. They were incapable of holding it themselves, and no one held it for them, so we became that place for them.
