Hey dear one,

Recently I have been writing The Somatics of Scarcity, a 6-part exploration of how scarcity lives in the body, drives our obsession, shapes our relationships, and keeps us from what we truly need—and how turning toward it can begin to teach us abundance.

You’re not ‘bad’ with money, you are avoiding what money *touches* in you. I know this because every time someone comes to me saying they want to “fix their money,” the conversation never ends up being about money. Because when it is about money, a somatic practitioner is the last thing you need — you just need money.

But when people come to me about their “money problems,” here’s what always actually shows up: the panic that hits when you even think about checking your bank account, the terror of opening a letter, a bill, an email, the shame you’re scared is true: “I’m irresponsible. I’m failing. I can’t handle life.”

We’re not talking about numbers. We’re talking about the avoidance you built to survive the emotional violence of scarcity. We’re talking about the somatic imprint left by years of fear, instability, and never feeling safe enough to look. Your “money issues” aren’t incompetence —they’re unprocessed fear. Avoidance is not a flaw, it’s a trauma response. And until your nervous system believes you are safe to look, to know, to receive, no strategy in the world will work.

When you avoid money, you’re not avoiding numbers. You’re avoiding the places money takes you back to:

  • the shame you inherited, not created

  • the fear of becoming someone your family never had the chance to be

  • the grief you buried because there was never space to feel it

  • the terror that you’re “failing at adulthood”

  • the identity collapse of not knowing who you are without struggle

  • the belief that you can’t “handle life”

  • the somatic memory of growing up without safety, stability, or reassurance

  • the story that your worth, your capacity, your future are fixed and limited

Money doesn’t activate logic —it activates your lineage, your nervous system, your oldest wounds. You think you’re avoiding a number. But what your body is actually avoiding is being seen, being responsible for your own expansion, being someone your ancestors never had the chance to become. Money avoidance is a trauma response dressed up as procrastination.

And until you tend to the imprint, you’ll always think you have a “money issue” when what you really have is an unmet emotional history.

So, how do we start?

Well, I have written a somatic guide to rewire emotional, relational and material scarcity. This is a 3-part nervous system map back to yourself so you can face and tend to your avoidance around relationships and money and create more abundance for yourself and your communities.
